Problem – Hard Drive Is Damaged

If your hard drive is damaged, we guess you’ll put the security of data, especially important data, in the first place. But as an ordinary user who has no experience in data recovery, how to recover data from damaged hard drive becomes the biggest obstacle you need to overcome. 3 Steps to Recover Data from Damaged Hard Drive

Do not get into a panic when you find the hard drive is damaged because the file itself on the hard drive is often not broken inside; it’s only the related information of file saved on the hard drive that has been damaged, so the files can actually be saved in most of the time.

Now, we're going to show you how to finish hard drive data recovery with MiniTool Power Data Recovery.

Step 1, check whether the partition containing your needed files exists on the computer or not:

  • Choose one way to open the Disk Management: click on the “Computer” icon on the desktop and choose “Manage” option from the pop-up menu; click on “Start” button in the lower left corner of the desktop, find “Computer” option, right-click on it and choose “Manage”.
  • Confirm the existence of partition in Disk Management: you should go through all the partitions you can see in Disk Management and confirm whether you can find the target partition here, by looking at the drive letter, partition type, file system, partition status and other information.

Step 3, go to the place you chose to save recovered files and check those files:

  • If you find you’ve regained all files you need, you can close the software and put an end to the hard drive data recovery process.
  • If you find you still need to recover other files, you should run MiniTool Power Data Recovery again and start another round of data recovery from damaged HDD.

Note: remember, though you may be able to recover files from the formatted hard drive, it’s not a 100% sure thing. Data backup & protection is always more important than recovery.
