My first reaction when I read that Media Access Australia, a not-for-profit organisation devoted to increasing access to media for people with a disability had produced a report on The accessibility of cloud computing - current and future trends' was 'Why?'.
While I acknowledge that there are many issues around access to media for people with disabilities, these did not seem to be related to cloud computing, but of course, that is not true.
A core feature of the cloud is that it enables access to resources from any location and for that access to be identical or similar no matter where, or how, those resources are accessed. So for people with disabilities who rely on specialised technology to access media - for example text-to-speech software for the vision impaired - the ability of the cloud to centralise those resources and make them available anywhere and on any device can be hugely liberating.
