Magento comes up with yet another release that packs even more security and performance.
The excitement within the Magento community is palpable. The release of Magento 2.3 has brought to an end the wait for the ecommerce platform update.
Since the time it was first released in July 2015, Magento has seen its popularity rise and this time around it’s no different. Every update has brought heightened ecommerce security and increased opportunities for innovation and Magento 2.3 continues the tradition.
“It might sound amazing how deeply developers have embraced Magento in such a short time, but trust me, it’s only logical.” explains Kaarik Iyer during a quick lunch. Iyer, founder and CEO of Infigic Technologies, an e commerce agency focussing on Magento development His firm is helping clients make a smooth transition to the new Magento 2 and make the most of it.
It’s been nearly a week since the release, so it’s only natural that people are yet trying to figure out everything. “All reports that have come in are enthusiastic – and that matters a lot.” says Iyer.
One of the interesting features of Magento 2.3 is the handling of encryption and decryption. It will now be handled by the sodium library where the PHP encryption module mcrypt will be removed and migrated to Libsodium for password hashing.
Moreover, GraphQL (query language for using APIs) has been introduced. It is brought in as an alternative API, besides REST and SOAP web APIs. It will help fetch data with fewer API requests. And then there is Multi-Source Inventory (MSI), which will help store owners manage their physical inventory through multiple sources, directly from the admin panel.
“From the point of view of security, one of the most important features of Magento 2.3 is the Two Factor Authentication. Login attempts will now have to be verified by SMS, phone calls, Access Token or One Touch. Goodbye, unverified logins.” Iyer points out. As a Magento security services, Infigic finds the new release “full of promise” for store owners.
