Unitywater, the company that provides water supply and sewerage services to residential and business customers on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, has won an award for its performance in responding to Dial Before You Dig enquiries, thanks in no small part to PelicanCorp’s TicketAccess solution for automating responses to DBYD enquiries.
For the past 10 years The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) has made, annually, the Dial Before You Dig High Performance Award to recognise those companies that have demonstrated outstanding performance in their response to DBYD enquiries. This year’s award was presented during the Locate 2016 Conference held in Melbourne in April.
The award is made on the basis of results from a set of anonymous DBYD enquiries submitted by GITA to its member companies that are also part of the national DBYD system. (These include most of the major utilities in Australia).
GITA then compares the results on speed of response, quality of response, availability, accuracy and quality of material provided to the enquirer.
It’s no coincidence that this year’s runners up -- Western Power and ActewAGL -- and seven previous GITA High Performance Award winners -- all use PelicanCorp’s TicketAccess automation system (previously known as AIRS). PelicanCorp CEO Duane Rodgers added “A fantastic achievement by the team at Unitywater. PelicanCorp are proud to work in partnership with them (Unitywater) to provide a solution that has been paramount in enabling the provision of high quality and prompt responses to DBYD enquiries”.
Unitywater’s Executive Manager of Infrastructure Planning and Capital Delivery, Simon Taylor, attributed Unitywater’s winning of the award to the diligence of staff and to TicketAccess, which Unitywater adopted in June 2014.
“The system allows Unitywater to very quickly workflow a DBYD request with paperwork and a map,” Mr Taylor said. “In the 2015 calendar year we responded to a total of 45,483 requests and our average response time was just 20 minutes. Congratulations to the Unitywater team on this outstanding result.”
