Finally, cooking refers to the act of heating food to a safe temperature where it inhibits the growth of illness-causing germs.
Different meats have different safe cooking temperatures. Food safety guidelines show that chicken should be cooked to at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit, whereas pork should be cooked to at least 145 degrees Fahrenheit. If meat isn't cooked to the appropriate temperature, it may pave the way for bacteria and viruses, some of which could cause foodborne illness when the meat is consumed.
