5G is the latest technology that is more reliable and faster if we compare it to other technologies. 5G is vastly expanding the mobile network’s ability.

In this era of technology, everyone is aware with 4G (LTE/WiMax), 3G (UMTS) and 2G (GSM) and now it’s time for 5th generation wireless cellular network or 5G technology. The main aim of 5G technology is not only aiming to lower the latency but it also enhances a theoretical speed of 20 Gigabits/second and that is quite faster than the quickest LTE network. As the technology is emerging day by day, 5G technology is expected to hit the market by 2020. In the current mobile app development space, there is a huge need for developers & testers who can collaborate to design 5G compatible applications.

According to Technology Business Research Inc., it is expected that network operators are expected to spend billions of dollars on 5G capital expenses by 2030. There is no doubt in saying 5G brings new aspects to the table. Suppose you want to download a 2hrs movie then definitely you have to wait up to 20 hours. But if you are doing this through 4G network then it can do the work in 8 minutes. On the other hand, 5G network can download the full movie in just 3.6 seconds and that’s the real power of 5G technology.

What is 5G technology?

5G technology is growing at an exponential rate as it is centered on the idea that IoT, connected devices is going to become a necessity in the near future. 5G innovations are happening at higher frequencies that are also known as millimeter waves.  There is no doubt in saying that 5G has the potential to transform the internet as it provides a much more personalized web experience using Network Slicing.

Countries that are looking forward to kick-start its services -

South Korea – There are two service providers that are contesting to exercise their control over the market with a 5G network. In 2017, Korea Telecom made its announcement i.e, it would start campaigning the trial of 5G network ahead of 2018 winter Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.

Japan – Japan is working all its way towards 5G technologies with the hopes of becoming the top 5G network providers.  Shogo security services and NTT Docomo are expected to provide services that are entirely based on 5G technology for the opening ceremony of 2020 Olympics.

China – According to China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the research department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, 5G could account for 3.2 percent of China’s entire GDP in 2025, can generate 8 million jobs, and add 2.9 trillion Yuan in economic value by 2030.

US – When it comes to existing 4G networks, United Nations already has its lead. But this time the US has some disadvantages in the 5G race as local and municipal governments holding the authorization over base stations & cell towers.

Will 5G be in rural areas too?

According to experts, 5G will fix the awful mobile signals on railway lines, offer seamless activity so that you can watch your favorite content on your commute to and from work. But such things depend on rail operators as upgrading to 5G is not cheap. Well, Android app development market is moving towards more complex apps in terms of design & functionalities.

Will 5G affect battery life?

To optimize battery, Qualcomm's 5G chipset has been designed by using 4G for the idle internet connection. You can easily switch to 5G when it needs to actually download or upload data, and turning it off again when it's done. In other words, we can say that there should not great impact on battery life for 5G devices, but Qualcomm warns that it does expect the first wave of 5G phones to boast slightly larger batteries. Because of this, it is responsible for probably thicker designs to compensate for any extra drain.

Why 5G is faster than 4G?

In present times, all our existing mobile networks use radio waves, but 5G uses bits of the electromagnetic spectrum that are not used by any other network. The latest developments in receiver and transmitter technology allow 5G networks to communicate using very high and very low-frequency waves which were impossible using existing technology.

Why it is taking so long?

There is no doubt in saying that things in the mobile app development tend to move at a sub-glacial pace. This is because shifting to a new network requires a whole bunch of people, from handset manufacturers to the network providers & app developers. In last year, the organization that governs cellular standards & 3GPP, signed off on a universal standard that is known as 5G NR.  It means that after years of debate on what 5G, the industry had finally come to a consensus on how it should be delivered. Now you should wait a little.

Conclusion

5G technology is the best high speed/capacity network that will materialize its industry usage in 2020. In other words, 5G technology is going to overhaul the overall infrastructure of wireless technology.
