We don’t normally associate the name Panasonic with a smartphone, simply because they are a well-known brand for household products. But with the P88 having just released to the market, you may as well take a good look at this smartphone for now.

Here’s what we know of the P88:

  • 5.3-inch HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 720 x 1280 pixels or ~277 ppi pixel density
  • Quad-core 1.25 GHz processor and 2GB RAM
  • Asahi Dragontrail Glass protection
  • 13MP primary camera with autofocus and triple-LED flash
  • 5MP secondary camera with LED flash
  • 16GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to maximum 256GB
  • Li-Ion 2600 mAh battery
  • Android Marshmallow 6.0
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • December 2016 release date
  • $135 USD price tag

The first peculiar thing that you will notice is its rather unique 5.3-inch screen size. It is a rather odd size this one, and with just HD resolution for its screen – you won’t get the best out of its screen for sure. Regarding protection, there’s the Dragontrail Glass which is a worthy opponent to the Gorilla Glass.

The highlight of the show for the P88 is definitely on its camera side of things.

With a 13MP primary camera that is equipped with a solid triple-LED flash, you will be able to capture soft looking photos that are more natural to the eyes. Lots of fun can be had with its camera.

Even for its 5MP selfie camera, there’s an LED flash. This means you will be able to capture selfies even in low-light conditions.

Under the hood of the P88 is really on the entry-level with its slow quad-core processor and 2GB RAM. Doubt you will be able to do lots of gaming or multitasking with this smartphone. It might disappoint you even.

Storage-wise, there’s 16GB of internal storage which is on the low side, but at least you can expand it easily up to 256GB with the availability of the microSD expansion slot.

Last but not least, a good enough 2600 mAh battery is there on the P88 that should be able to last you for at least a day in between charging.

Conclusion:

Panasonic P88 is a solid smartphone but is let down with its peculiar screen size and doubtful performance. But if you love to take pictures and selfies, it will bring you joy.

Panasonic P88 is currently available for $9290 Rupees or ~$135 USD and comes in Gold and Charcoal Grey color.
