Previously, Huawei has a couple of flagships namely the P9 and Mate 9 Pro which is nothing short of amazing themselves. They went ahead of time and embraced the dual-camera setup to present us with great camera smartphone which rivals those of a dedicated digital camera and coming close to DSLR level.

Not only that, style is also the name of the game and coupled with great hardware and competitive pricing – makes for an irresistible flagship series by the Chinese manufacturer.

What’s in store for us then with the Honor Magic? Here’s all you need to know about the flagship:

  • 5.09 Quad HD AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1440 x 2560 pixels or ~577 ppi pixel density
  • Metal body
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Hisilicon Kirin 950 chipset, Octa-core (4x2.3 GHz Cortex-A72 & 4x1.8 GHz Cortex A53) processor, Mali-T880 MP4 graphics and 4GB RAM
  • Dual 12MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash
  • 8MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture

  • Android Marshmallow 6.0
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 2900 mAh battery with Fast battery charging up to 90% in 30 minutes

  • $529 USD price tag

Sporting an exquisite metal body, Honor Magic is also equipped with 2.5D curved glass which makes it even more attractive. It is nice to see and nice to hold, but this flagship is also nice to look at – especially with its Quad HD AMOLED screen. You will get to see only the best images popping out from the screen.

Under the hood of the Honor Magic is also top-notch with the built-in Kirin 950 chipset, speedy octa-core processor, great graphics and 4GB RAM. There’s simply nothing that this smartphone can’t run fast enough with lots more left in the reserves.

The highlight of the show for Honor Magic is definitely on its camera. Over here you can find it sporting a dual 12MP primary camera which results in some of the best images being taken by a smartphone. The bokeh effect is something that you will be able to perform using this device. Not only that, the 8MP selfie camera lets you take some high-res selfies with it.

Storage-wise, the 64GB internal storage allows for a lot of apps and games to be installed on the Honor Magic. But with no microSD expansion slot, you may have to turn to cloud storage or USB on-the-go for expansion purposes.

A rather small 2900 mAh battery accompanies the Honor Magic which might struggle to keep you up all day if you are a very heavy user. But with the fact that it can charge the smartphone up to 90% in just 30 minutes, you have a peace of mind knowing that you won’t have to be tied down for too long.

Conclusion:

Huawei Honor Magic should do well in the flagship space. It has a great body, amazing screen, great hardware and an amazing camera to boot. A slight concern is on the battery and the unavailability of an expansion slot though.

Huawei Honor Magic had just been released in Chine for $3,699 Chinese Yuan or ~$529 USD. It is available in Golden Black and Porcelain White.
