The M2017 is indeed a surprise coming from the Chinese manufacturer so soon in 2017, and most of us haven’t even colour to the reality that a new year has dawned upon us. But like they say, “Time waits for no man”, and it seems that this flagship has drawn its mark for others to follow.

To realise the M2017 in all its glory, here’s everything you should know about this smartphone:

  • 5.7-inch Quad HD AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1440 x 2560 pixels or ~515 ppi pixel density
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Qualcomm MSM8976 Snapdragon 653 chipset, Octa-core (4x1.95 GHz Cortex-A72 & 4x1.4 GHz Cortex-A53) processor, Adreno 510 graphics and 6GB RAM
  • Dual 12 MP + 1.3 MP primary camera with phase detection autofocus and LED flash
  • 8MP secondary camera
  • 128GB internal storage with no microSD expansion slot
  • Android Marshmallow 6.0.1
  • Non-removable Li-Po 7000 mAh battery with Fast battery charging up to 83% in 30 minutes (Quick Charge 3.0)
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • Q1 2017 release date
  • $6999 Chinese Yuan or ~$1009 USD price tag

Now that’s something spectacular that the M2017 is dishing out – not to mention its pricey price tag as well. For that amount of money, you will be getting a great 5.7-inch Quad HD AMOLED screen which promises to give you serious fun as you take a good look at it. Definitely a feast for the eyes.

The M2017 might not be a true powerhouse,  as it comes equipped with the mid-range Snapdragon 653 chipset, a reliable octa-core processor, Adreno 510 graphics and a whopping 6GB RAM. You can safely put this device in the medium-high range of things that can easily chew up everything that you throw at it.

One of the highlights of the show on the M2017 would be its dual 12MP+1.3MP camera. It is becoming a more familiar scene for smartphones to be having this feature – which allows for some serious shooting even for ordinary users. One of the advantages of having a dual camera setup is bokeh effect. You should try your hands on it to know the real meaning of it. Then there’s also the 8MP selfie camera which lets you take some selfies in a high resolution to be able to capture all your memories.

In terms of storage, there’s a massive 128MB internal storage available. That should allow you to install a lot of apps and games, as well as to store your favourite songs and videos. That’s why it doesn’t come with an expansion slot – as you will have lots of space to work on.

Are you having the problem of the battery failing your smartphone ? With the M2017 you won’t be facing that issue at all, thanks to its huge 7000 mAh battery powering up the smartphone. It will have no issues to give you several days of battery life. And when it comes to plugging it in, with just a 30 minutes’ charge – it will take you up to 83%. Now that’s something spectacular indeed.

Conclusion:

Gionee M2017 is a remarkable smartphone – but it is not for everyone, though. That’s simply because not many would want to spend that amount of money for a smartphone. But for those who can afford it, then you will get lots of fun with it. Great screen, great hardware, great camera, huge storage and a whopping 7000 mAH battery is what you will get from this smartphone.

Gionee M2017 is expected to be released anytime soon as the pre-orders have already started. It will be available for $6999 Chinese Yuan or ~$1009 USD price tag which is mightily expensive. You can choose from either Black or Gold color.
