Since HMD Global took over the phone division, this is the best news that has come out from Nokia’s camp. Introducing Nokia 8 which might mark the rise of the sleeping giant of yesteryears.
HMD, a start-up headquartered in Finland, will bring a new generation of mobile phones to consumers through an existing feature phone business and new smartphone range. In fact, we haven’t heard the name Nokia for quite some time, so it is great to know that they are back in business after these years.
But will Nokia 8 be their swan song? Or just a distraction from the norm these days?

You got that right if you say that Nokia 8 is the latest premium flagship in 2017. Specs-wise, everything is the latest; some not even released yet.
Sporting the 5.7-inch Quad HD IPS screen, this gives you the best viewing pleasure available. Wrapped in an exquisite metal body, there’s also the fingerprint sensor for all your biometric needs. To round it off, Gorilla Glass 5 will be there to protect your precious flagship in the case of mishaps that tend to happen when you least expected it.
Under the hood of Nokia 8 will be the latest Snapdragon 835 chipset, an octa-core blazingly fast Kryo processor, top-of-the-line Adreno 540 graphics as well as 6GB RAM. This beast of a smartphone will be kicking up a storm and have no trouble running through everything that you throw at it.
What’s with all the power and not letting you have some fun? Nokia is previously known for its great camera prowess, especially with its Lumia lineup and Carl Zeiss optics. Well what do you know, get ready to have some fun with its 24MP primary camera that is packed with all the bells and whistles to ensure only the best in the camera department. Even the 12MP selfie camera is said to be great, so you get to take high-res selfies.
Don’t you worry about storage, as there will be ample of it. Pick either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, which can then be further expanded up to 256GB via the available microSD slot.
With Dolby Atmos sound enhancement, you will get to enjoy its crystal-clear sound. All your music, videos and pretty much everything else will be a delight to your senses.
Last but not least, Nokia 8 will be powered by the latest Android Nougat 7.0 OS right out of the box. You get the best of both hardware and software which makes for a potent mix.
Nokia 8 is already looking like it will be the flag-bearer coming into 2017 for Nokia. With all state-of-the-art technology being used to create this marvellous smartphone, it will probably be the benchmark for all others to follow. Expect to pay a premium for this premium device. And since HMD has taken over Nokia, there are already plans to bring them back to its former glory. We can only wish them well, since I believe most of us adults can relate to them being the great giant they were back then.
Nokia 8 is said to be launched in February 2017 to coincide with Mobile World Congress 2017, and is expected to be released in the first half of 2017. It is rumoured to be available only in Black.
