Without a doubt, it has been a challenge for all smartphones users to get great battery life out of their devices, but you won’t face any issues with the Zenfone 3s Max.

In fact, you can say that it all began with its elder sibling which was released last year called Zenfone 3 Max with the following specs:

  • 5.5-inch Full HD IPS capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels or ~401 ppi pixel density
  • Metal body
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Oleophobic coating
  • Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430 chipset, Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 graphics, Adreno 505 chipset and 3GB RAM
  • 16MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection & laser autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash
  • 8MP secondary camera with f/2.2 aperture
  • 32GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to 256GB maximum
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 4100 mAh battery with Fast battery charging
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • November 2016 release date
  • $269 USD price tag

Zenfone 3 Max has everything nice going for it, nice metal body, good screen, great camera and great battery. The only issue is its rather limited performance, which might be a turn-off for some.

With that in mind, let’s now turn our attention to the Zenfone 3s Max:

  • 5.2-inch HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 720 x 1280 pixels or ~282 ppi pixel density
  • Metal body
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Mediatek MT6750 chipset, Octa-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, Mali-T860MP2 graphics and 3GB RAM
  • 13MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash
  • 8MP secondary camera
  • 32GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to 256GB maximum
  • Non-removable Li-Po 5000 mAh battery
  • Android Nougat 7.0
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • February 2017 release date
  • $219 USD price tag

Four months since the Zenfone 3 Max release, we might be seeing a little bit of a backward trend going on here. With the Zenfone 3s Max, you will be getting a smaller 5.2-inch screen as well as less resolution – which is sadly a High Definition screen. But you will still be getting a metal body and fingerprint sensor which is fast becoming the standard for any smartphone.

Performance-wise, there should be enough firepower with the MT6750 chipset, decently fast octa-core processor, good graphics and 3GB RAM. You should be able to run most apps and games quite comfortably.

Moving on to the camera, Zenfone 3s Max is equipped with a 13MP-8MP camera setup which is quite balanced and is able to produce good quality photos with ease. With the Dual LED Real Tone Flash, it can deliver photos that are true-to-life colours with depth, even in low-light conditions. The selfie camera has an 85 degree Field of View that enables you to take not only take selfies, but enables to capture wide angle groupies.

By taking photos, it can easily fill up the space in the smartphone; and thankfully Zenfone 3s Max comes with 32GB of internal storage. This means you can store a considerable number of apps, games, photos, songs and videos. Not forgetting there’s also an expansion slot which can easily take in 256GB of storage.

They say to save the best for last, and here’s to the best part of Zenfone 3s Max. With a whopping 5000 mAh battery, you can easily have up to three days of battery life in between charging. It can also be on standby mode for up to 34 days. You don’t have to worry about running low on battery while you are outside, which is a great thing.

Finally, the latest Android Nougat 7.0 OS is available the moment you power up the device. This means you will be getting the latest features and enhancements right out of the box, which is a great thing indeed.

Conclusion:

Asus Zenfone 3s Max ZC521TL presents great battery life and the latest operating system being the highlight of the show. But if you are concerned about its HD resolution, there are other options available out there.

Asus Zenfone 3s Max ZC521TL had just been released for $14,999 Indian Rupee or ~$USD 219. You can choose either Gold or Black colour.
