There are some improvements that the X4 Soul brings to the table. But the real question is will it be enough to remain competitive in 2017?

Let’s start off with the look and feel of the X4 Soul, and it is right that it manages to maintain the good looks of its predecessor. They say that beauty runs in the genes, and Allview does so beautifully from generations to generations. Do take note that it is thicker and heavier now, which baffles us a bit.

Performance-wise, it seems that not only does it sport a similar setup but the processor seems to be clocked down to run slower. No idea why it is so when others are progressing forward in this area.

If there’s one area the X4 Soul seems to have improved a lot, just take a look at its camera. Now sporting a dual 13MP + 5MP primary camera, there’s a host of new features and functions introduced to make it able to capture beautiful photos. You can now have the bokeh effect happening in your primary camera, similar to what DSLR camera is capable of. Even your selfies will look shiny and bright, now that it comes equipped with a LED flash.

We also expect that it would have come with the latest software, but it seems that the X4 Soul is still stuck on the dated Android Marshmallow 6.0 – with no signs of getting an update.

If in 2016, X3 Soul Pro is deemed a worthy flagship – we are not so sure of the X4 Soul now. Yes, the camera gets a nice upgrade and is now cheaper, but there are other smartphones out there that are more capable and more affordable as well.

Allview X4 Soul had just been released in Romania, and worldwide release is expected to follow suit very soon. It is currently available for $1,699 Romanian Leu or ~$399 USD and is only available in Black colour.
