Alcatel A5 wants you to be happy and have a vibrant life, that it will put up a great LED show just to cheer you up – and everyone else around you.
Wait what? Yes, with the A5, it can put up a disco-like atmosphere everywhere it may roam. The Light Show rear cover uses LEDs that can dance along with your music, alert you to notifications and colour match to your games and photos. The lights have multiple colours that sit behind a frosted back cover that diffuses the light. Just imagine the disco ball with colourful lights placed on a smartphone.
Calls, messages and social app updates come through loud and clear with bright, easy to read notifications that are impossible to ignore. Use the new and improved Color Catcher 2.0 to absorb up to 5 colours from any image or object and use them as a theme that will even flash on the rear cover. Enjoy preloaded games and battle your friends using the rear LED cover or create your own light show that you can play anytime or make it move to the music. Turn up the music and enjoy a personal light show that grooves to the beat of whatever tune you're listening to.
Some may find it to their liking, some may find it a turn-off. Whatever it is, let’s take a further look at its specs as per below:

With the A5, you will be getting a low-end to a medium-range smartphone if judging from its specs. It will be sporting a 5.2-inch IPS screen with just a High Definition resolution which is just enough for your viewing pleasure.
Under the hood of the A5 is the reliable MT6753 chipset paired with a decent octa-core processor with decent speed, good graphics and 2GB RAM. This combination would mean that it will have no trouble running most basic apps like your favourite social media, web browsing and some light gaming.
Moving on to the camera, there’s the 13MP-5MP camera combination which gives it a decent photo-taking experience. With both cameras being fitted with LED flash, your photos will look bright even under low-light conditions.
Regarding storage, there’s a decent 16GB internal storage available on the A5. That is barely enough these days, and there’s a microSD expansion slot which you can easily add in up to 256GB of storage easily.
Battery-wise, the 2800 mAh battery should have no problem powering up the device for at least a day in between charging.
Finally, be aware that the A5 is still running on the dated Android Marshmallow 6.0 OS with very little chance of it getting an update to the latest Nougat 7.0 OS.
Alcatel A5 have a unique selling proposition with its lively LED show that is ready to be unleashed anywhere. Looking for something to cheer you up? Just fire up some music and dance to its LED show, and you may even find new friends with it. But if you look long and hard enough, the novelty might run off after some time.
Alcatel A5 is said to be launched sometime in Q2 2017 although there’s no confirmation yet on its price. There’s only one colour available which is Gray.
