Recently released in China, LeEco Le Pro 3 AI Edition is definitely something very special.

To begin with, let’s put things into perspective by doing a little throwback to end of last year with the initial release of Le Pro 3 as follows:

  • 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels or ~403 ppi pixel density
  • Metal body
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821 chipset, Quad-core (2x2.35 GHz Kryo & 2x2.0 GHz Kryo) processor, Adreno 530 graphics and 4GB/6GB RAM
  • 16MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash
  • 8MP secondary camera with f/2.2 aperture and 1.4 µm pixel size
  • 32GB/64GB internal storage with no expansion slot
  • Android Marshmallow 6.0
  • Dolby Atmos sound
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 4070 mAh battery with Fast battery charging (50% in 30 minutes)
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • October 2016 release date
  • $339 USD for 4GB RAM + 32GB storage and $379 USD for 6GB RAM + 64GB storage

It quickly got the nickname “OnePlus 3 Killer for 2016”. That’s how good it was and everyone seems to be falling head over heels with this flagship.

Now that we are in 2017, the Chinese manufacturer has something else up its sleeve by offering something a little bit more affordable while still maintaining its true value for money.

Here you go then with the LeEco Le Pro 3 AI Edition:

  • 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels or ~403 ppi pixel density
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Mediatek MT6797D Helio X23/Mediatek MT6797X Helio X27 chipset, Deca-core x2.3 GHz/Deca-core x2.6 GHz processor, Mali-T880MP graphics and 4GB RAM
  • Dual 13MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection and laser autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash
  • 8MP secondary camera with f/2.2 aperture and 1.4 µm pixel size
  • 32GB/64GB internal storage with no expansion slot
  • Android Marshmallow 6.0
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 4000 mAh battery with Fast battery charging
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • April 2017 release date
  • $259 USD for Helio X23 chipset + Deca-core x2.3 GHz processor + 32GB storage and $349 USD for Helio X27 chipset + Deca-core x2.6 GHz processor + 64GB storage

Being cheaper by $80 USD, LeEco Le Pro 3 AI Edition is not far away from last year’s best-selling model. In fact, it now comes with a dual 13MP primary camera that is absolutely rocking. You will have a blast snapping away and be mesmerised at all the great looking photos.

The 5.5-inch Full HD IPS screen is still there, plus the fingerprint sensor. And how it managed to keep price down in the first place, is by moving to Mediatek. But even then, you will have 10-cores running at top speed. This means that you will blaze at everything that you can throw at it, and still have some more left spare in the tank.

With a 4000 mAh battery equipped on the LeEco Le Pro 3 AI Edition, there shouldn’t be an issue to have it last for a day or two even.

But sadly though, this smartphone is still running on the dated Android Marshmallow 6.0 OS – with no signs of it getting an update to the latest Nougat 7.0.

Conclusion:

For those who wants an affordable flagship, then LeEco Le Pro 3 AI Edition should be in your radar. Great hardware with 10-cores, great dual primary camera and great battery makes for a killer combination. Only if you can live with its limited storage and dated Marshmallow OS.

LeEco Le Pro 3 AI Edition had just been released in China and there are two variants available. The Helio X23 chipset + Deca-core x2.3 GHz processor + 32GB storage is available for $259 USD, while the Helio X27 chipset + Deca-core x2.6 GHz processor + 64GB storage is available for $349 USD. Gold, Rose Gold and Black are the three colors that you can choose from.
