If you are on a budget, then Yu Yureka Black should be able to satisfy your needs.
Yu might be a strange name to some, that’s because it is a sub-division of Micromax that comes from India. With Micromax getting bigger by the year, Yu is also about to get more attention that it deserves.
Without further ado, let’s turn our attention to Yureka Black with the following specs:
- 5-inch Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels or ~441 ppi pixel density
- Fingerprint sensor
- Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection
- Metal body
- Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430 chipset, Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, Adreno 505 graphics and 4GB RAM

- 8MP secondary camera with flash
- 32GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to 64GB maximum
- Android Marshmallow 6.0
- Li-Po 3000 mAh battery
- Dual-sim and 4G LTE
- June 2017 release date
- $8,999 Indian Rupee or ~$139 USD price tag
For fans of small screen but like it big on features, Yureka Black is sporting a 5-inch Full HD IPS screen that lets you enjoy your moment spent watching anything on it. Even a simple task such as browsing the web is enjoyable. It is also blessed with a superior metal body that makes for a firmer grip. Not forgetting the fingerprint sensor and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It makes for a real winner in terms of look and feel.
With hot looks, it would be a bonus to have it perform well. With the Snapdragon 430 chipset at the heart of things, a decently fast octa-core processor, good graphics and a generous 4GB RAM make for an interesting combination. You shouldn’t worry about performance, in fact it performs pretty well for its price.
Moving on to the camera, a good 13MP primary camera is on the show that is utilising Sony’s IMX 258 sensor. With PDAF and dual-LED flash as well, we might find ourselves with a really good point-and-shoot camera over here. For selfie lovers, you won’t be left out as Yureka Black is sporting an 8MP selfie camera with flash. Now that’s something we don’t normally find, even on more expensive smartphones.
Regarding storage, 32GB of internal storage should be sufficient for most users. It is just enough for you to install your favourite apps and some games, as well as some songs for you to listen to. Whenever you want more space, just pop in a microSD card that can take it all the way up to 64GB.
Battery-wise, there’s the 3000 mAh battery on Yureka Black which should have more than enough juice to last it for a full day of use.
Last but not least, you might want to be slightly concerned with the fact that it is still running on the dated Android Marshmallow 6.0 OS. With a slim chance of getting an update to the latest Android Nougat 7.0 OS, just be mindful of this issue.
Yu Yureka Black is offering real value for money for those looking for a small 5-inch smartphone. It is packed with features and functions that are way beyond its price tag. Great looks with metal body, decent hardware, great camera and a good battery are what you will get out of it. The price is also very attractive and offers great value for money.
Yu Yureka Black had just been released in India for $8,999 Indian Rupee or ~$139 USD. It is available in Matte Black and Chrome Black colour.
