Did you know that there’s another model also called Redmi Note 4 that was released back in last year? Let’s do a quick throwback, so you know where things stand now with the Snapdragon variant:

  • 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels or ~401 ppi pixel density
  • Metal body
  • 2.5D curved glass
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Mediatek MT6797 Helio X20 chipset, Deca-core 2.1 GHz processor, Mali-T880 MP4 graphics and 2GB/3GB RAM
  • 13MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash
  • 5MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture
  • Android Marshmallow 6.0
  • 16GB/64GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to 256GB maximum
  • Non-removable Li-Po 4100 mAh battery
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • August 2016 release date
  • ~$139 USD for 2GB RAM + 16GB storage and $169 USD for 3GB RAM + 64GB storage

Even back then in August 2016, the amount of value for money that Redmi Note 4 brings to the table is simply astonishing. For such a small amount of money, you get a 5.5-inch Full HD screen, metal body, 2.5D curved glass, fingerprint sensor, 10-core processor and so much more that defies the norm. Well, that’s what you get from the Chinese manufacturer these days.

Now then, what is in store for us with the latest Redmi Note 4 (Snapdragon)? Are we going to get more of the same, or something extra? For that, let’s look at its specs as per below:

  • 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels or ~401 ppi pixel density
  • Metal body
  • 2.5D curved glass
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 chipset, Octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, Adreno 506 graphics and 3GB RAM
  • 13MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash
  • 5MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture
  • Android Marshmallow 6.0
  • 32GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to 256GB maximum
  • Non-removable Li-Po 4100 mAh battery
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • February 2017 release date
  • ~$153.99 USD price tag

As you can see from the above, there isn’t much difference between the two variants though. Redmi Note 4 (Snapdragon) will still be sporting the same 5.5-inch Full HD screen, metal body, 2.5D curved glass, fingerprint sensor and all.

The changes this update bring are all inside. Under the hood of the Redmi Note 4 (Snapdragon) is the mid-range Snapdragon 625 chipset paired with a very fast octa-core processor, good graphics, and a reasonable 3GB RAM.

The available 13MP-5MP camera setup means that you will be having a good time snapping away. Pictures after pictures will look great and ready to be shared thru your social media within seconds.

Your next consideration after taking so many photos is the available storage side. With Redmi Note 4 (Snapdragon), there’s ample storage available in the form of 32GB of internal storage. That should be more than enough to install all your favorite apps and games, and if that’s not enough – go on ahead to add more space up to 256GB via the available microSD expansion slot.

Battery-wise, there’s the 4100 mAh battery that should be able to provide enough juice to power up the smartphone for a day or two in between charging.

Perhaps the only downside for Redmi Note 4 (Snapdragon) is the fact that it still runs on the dated Android Marshmallow 6.0. With no confirmation that it will get an update to the latest Android Nougat 7.0 OS, just be mindful of that.

Conclusion:

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (Snapdragon) provides great value for money, especially for those who are on a budget. By spending just a fraction of what other smartphones with similar specs, you will be getting a cool 5.5-inch Full HD IPS screen equipped with a metal body, 2.5 curved glass and fingerprint sensor, mid-range Snapdragon hardware, good 13MP-5MP camera, good storage and great battery life.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (Snapdragon) is currently available at GearBest and is available in Black color.
