With that in mind, let’s check out what is in store for us with the Moto G5S:

  • 5.2-inch Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels or ~424 ppi pixel density
  • Splash-resistant body
  • Gorilla Glass 3 protection
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430 chipset, Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, Adreno 505 and 3GB RAM

  • 249 Euro or ~$295 USD estimated price tag

First upgrade that we can spot straight away on its slightly larger 5.2-inch Full HD IPS screen. You now get to enjoy more screen real estate, as there are now more things that can be viewed on display. It is also now equipped with a splash-resistant body that can keep the water away, as you brave through the rain in some circumstances. Gorilla Glass 3 and fingerprint sensor is there as well.

Moving on to what’s under the hood of the Moto G5S, we can find it having a similar setup with the previous Moto G5; except for an additional 1GB RAM. This makes for a good mid-range experience that you can get out of it. It makes running most apps and games a breeze.

Camera-wise, Moto G5S gets an upgrade in the form of a 16MP primary camera that now comes with PDAF feature that you can put to good use. The 5MP selfie camera also now gets an LED flash that can easily brighten up all your selfies.

Finally, the battery also gets a nice upgrade with a 3000 mAh battery supplying juice to it. A jump of almost 10% in battery capacity translates to it being more than capable of powering up the smartphone for a full day in between charging.

Conclusion:

Motorola Moto G5S does improve on a lot of things, namely a larger 5.2-inch screen, splash-resistant body, an additional 1GB RAM, better camera setup and a larger battery. But all this comes at a price, an almost 65% premium that you will be paying extra from its predecessor for all that.

Motorola Moto G5S is all set for an August 2017 released and is expected to be available for $249 Euro or ~$295 USD. It is said to be available in Lunar Gray and Fine Gold colours.
