A smartphone with a secondary display is usually reserved for high-end devices. Even then, this secondary display is located at the front of the phone, not at the back just like what Meizu Pro 7 Plus offers.

The secondary display is not quite revolutionary, but more for practical usage of the smartphone. Additionally, it not too distractive. If you are looking for something smaller, perhaps you can take a look at Pro 7 over here.

Here’s a quick recap of what the Pro 7 is all about:

  • 5.2-inch Full HD Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels (~423 ppi pixel density)
  • Secondary 2" AMOLED display, 240 x 536 pixels
  • Metal body
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Mediatek MT6757T Helio P25 chipset, Octa-core (4x1.6 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x1.6 GHz Cortex-A35) processor, Mali-T880MP2 graphics and 4GB RAM
  • Dual 12MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash
  • 16MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture
  • Android Nougat 7.0
  • 64GB internal storage with no expansion slot
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery with Fast battery charging (mCharge 3.0)
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • August 2017 expected release date
  • $429 USD estimated price tag

Its main proposition is in its smaller size, metal body, mid-range hardware, great dual primary camera and of course – the secondary camera at the back.

Now that we are all hyped up, here’s the Pro 7 Plus:

  • 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1440 x 2560 pixels or ~518 ppi pixel density
  • Secondary 2" AMOLED display, 240 x 536 pixels
  • Metal body
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Mediatek MT6799 Helio X30 chipset, Deca-core (2x2.6 GHz Cortex-A73, 4x1.9 GHz Cortex-A35, 4x2.2 GHz Cortex-A53) processor, PowerVR 7XTP graphics and 6GB RAM
  • Dual 12MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash
  • 16MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture
  • Android Nougat 7.0
  • 64GB/128GB internal storage with no expansion slot
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 3500 mAh battery with Fast battery charging 67% in 30 min with mCharge 4.0
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • August 2017 expected release date
  • $529 USD for 64GB storage or $599 USD for 128GB storage estimated price tag

By paying $100 USD extra, you will get the Pro 7 Plus. For starters, you will be getting a larger 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with more resolution which is Quad HD resolution. The extra screen space and higher resolution mean more enjoyable time spent on the phablet.

The secondary display at the back can be used to display notifications that free you up from the hassle of managing all your notifications. Ignore unwanted reminders while at work, and never miss out on important messages.

Under the hood of the Pro 7 Plus is definitely top class. With the high-end Helio X30 chipset, deca-core processor (that’s 10-cores!), great graphics and massive 6GB RAM make for a powerful combination that will destroy everything in its path. All apps and games will run very smoothly on this phablet.

Camera-wise, it uses the same setup as the Pro 7. Still, it is great to have the dual 12MP primary camera equipped with such high-end features that let you take very high-res and sharp looking photos with it. It comes with an enhanced night image quality, richer detail, and an all-new blurring mode so each shot is a work of art. Then there’s the 16MP selfie camera to cater for all your selfies and with the rear display at work, it has created brand-new selfie possibilities. Precise tuning of beautification algorithms makes your selfies even more attractive which allows you to see yourself on the rear display in real-time, making capturing that perfect smile a breeze.

Concerning storage, since there’s no option for further expansion – you have the choice to go for 128GB of internal storage, that is if your budget allows for it. If you choose only 64GB, then you might have to struggle with doing housekeeping now and then and clear or transfer stuff. Especially if you are a very heavy user that likes to shoot photos all day long.

As for the battery, Pro 7 Plus is powered by a 3500 mAh battery that is more than capable to last the phablet for a full day in between charging. And when the time comes for a recharge, it only takes 30 minutes to take it up to 67%.

Meizu Pro 7 Plus is all you need in a flagship smartphone, and more. Great 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED screen, nifty 2-inch secondary display, amazing hardware, great dual primary camera, great selfie camera, a massive amount of storage, good battery and the latest software marks a complete package.

Meizu Pro 7 Plus is expected to be released in August 2017 for $529 USD for the 64GB storage and $599 USD for the 128GB storage variant. You get to choose from Black, Gold and Silver.
