Asus Zenfone 4 Pro ZS551KL vs Meizu Pro 7 Plus: here’s two flagships with dual primary camera that you can get for under $650

Spending close to USD 650, you better get only the best. Here’s Asus Zenfone 4 Pro ZS551KL and Meizu Pro 7 Plus – two of the best smartphones battling each other.

It has been almost a year since Zenfone 3 was first released, and here comes Zenfone 4 with few models waiting to be released anytime soon.

Let’s first meet Zenfone 4 Pro ZS551KL, which is expected to be released next month in September 2017 which will have the below specs:

  • 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels or ~401 ppi pixel density
  • Metal body
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Gorilla Glass 4 protection
  • Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset, Octa-core (4x2.35 GHz Kryo & 4x1.9 GHz Kryo) processor, Adreno 540 graphics and 6GB RAM
  • Dual 12MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture, OIS, 4-axis, phase detection AF) + 16 MP (50mm), laser/phase detection autofocus, OIS (4-axis), 2x optical zoom and dual-LED (dual tone) flash

  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • September 2017 expected release date
  • 549 Euro or ~USD 645 estimated price tag

Zenfone 4 Pro ZS551KL is projected to be fitted with a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED screen. Just short of a Quad HD resolution, or else it would have been great.

Performance-wise, there’s nothing but only the best with the Snapdragon 835 chipset, fastest Kryo octa-core processor, high-end Adreno 540 graphics and a whopping 6GB RAM. All of this are the best in their class, so you can only expect the best out of it.

All power and no play can make it a dull smartphone. Not with Zenfone 4 Pro ZS551KL, as it is expected to have a dual 12MP+16MP primary camera with all the bells and whistles that will make it one powerful camera smartphone. Then there’s the 8MP selfie camera to make the package complete.

Regarding storage, there should be enough with its 64GB internal storage. Need more? Just add in a microSD card and you are all set to add up to 256GB of space .

The latest Android Nougat 7.1 operating system is expected to be running out of the box upon the Zenfone 4 Pro ZS551KL release to the market next month.

Finally, the 3600 mAh battery should be more than capable of providing the necessary juice to last it for a full day in between charging.

Let’s now turn our attention to the Pro 7 Plus. With a Plus in its name, it is a bigger and better version of the Pro 7. Here you go then with its specs:

  • 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1440 x 2560 pixels or ~518 ppi pixel density
  • Secondary 2" AMOLED display, 240 x 536 pixels
  • Metal body
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Mediatek MT6799 Helio X30 chipset, Deca-core (2x2.6 GHz Cortex-A73, 4x1.9 GHz Cortex-A35, 4x2.2 GHz Cortex-A53) processor, PowerVR 7XTP graphics and 6GB RAM
  • Dual 12MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash
  • 16MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture
  • Android Nougat 7.0
  • 128GB internal storage with no expansion slot
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 3500 mAh battery with Fast battery charging 67% in 30 min with mCharge 4.0
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • August 2017 release date
  • USD 599 price tag

The first thing that you will notice about the Pro 7 Plus is on the screen, two screens to be precise. Equipped with a slightly larger 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, it also has a better Quad HD resolution as well. Not content with that, how about a secondary display at the back of the phablet?

The secondary display can be used to display notifications that free you from the hassle of managing all your notifications. Ignore unwanted reminders while at work, and never miss out on important messages. It will be your best companion, just like your personal assistant.

Under the hood of the Pro 7 Plus is top class, although not as high. But still, you end up with the high-end Helio X30 chipset, a deca-core processor (that’s 10-cores!), great PowerVR graphics and 6GB RAM that makes for a compelling combination.

Camera-wise, it has the dual 12MP primary camera setup but falls just slightly behind its competitor in this round. Even then, it allows you to get enhanced night image quality, richer detail, and an all-new blurring mode, so that each shot is a work of art. One main benefit is on its excellent 16MP selfie camera that combines well with the secondary display at the back. Precise tuning of beautification algorithms makes your selfies even more attractive which allows you to see yourself on the rear display in real-time, making capturing that perfect smile a breeze.

Regarding storage, you can find that the Pro 7 Plus comes with a huge 128GB internal storage. This should be reason enough for it not to have an expansion slot. But you will start to worry, as you go camera frenzy, as a high-res picture can have a large size. That’s why you may have to turn to cloud storage or a USB on-the-go more frequently now.

Moving on to the battery aspect, Pro 7 Plus is powered by a 3500 mAh battery that is sufficient for a full day of use. And when it is time to charge it, all it takes is just 30 minutes for it to go up to 67%.

Asus Zenfone 4 Pro ZS551KL is pure class, even though it does not have a Quad HD resolution like we expected it to be. The speedy performance with excellent protection, fantastic dual 12MP+16MP primary camera, ample storage, large battery capacity and the latest operating system is what you can expect from this amazing smartphone.

Asus Zenfone 4 Pro ZS551KL is expected to be released next month in September 2017 for 549 Euro or ~USD 645. There are two colour options available - Moonlight White and Pure Black.

Meanwhile, for Meizu Pro 7 Plus, it is all you need in a flagship smartphone, and more. High 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED screen, helpful 2-inch secondary display, amazing hardware, great dual 12MP primary camera, great 16MP selfie camera, massive 128GB storage, and the latest operating system marks a complete package. Plus, it is also cheaper by USD 46 this time around.

Meizu Pro 7 Plus had just been released in August 2017 for USD 599. You get to choose from Black, Gold or Silver colour.
