xpected to be available exclusively in Amazon India on September 4th, Coolpad Cool Play 6 is said to go on sale for 14,999 Indian Rupees or ~$235 USD.

Coolpad is a company from Shenzhen, China and is set to grow globally at an impressive rate. Just like any other Chinese manufacturer, they are set to bring great value for money in the smartphone marketplace that will benefit us all.

FYI, the last device that we reviewed was the Cool S1 earlier this year. Let’s do a quick throwback then:

  • 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels or ~401 ppi pixel density
  • Metal body
  • 2.5D curved glass
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821 chipset, Quad-core (2x2.35 GHz Kryo & 2x1.6 GHz Kryo) processor, Adreno 530 graphics and 4GB/6GB RAM
  • 16MP primary camera with f/2.0, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash
  • 8MP secondary camera
  • 64GB/128GB internal storage with no microSD expansion slot

  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • January 2017 release date
  • $389 USD for 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and $459 USD for 6GB RAM + 128GB storage

Cool S1 was their flagship and it has a lot to show. Great looking body, amazing hardware, good camera, great sound, great battery life and affordability makes for a great combination.

Having said that, will Cool Pay six be as dominating in the mid-range segment of the market? See for yourself as per below:

  • 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels or ~401 ppi pixel density
  • Metal body
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Qualcomm MSM8976 Pro Snapdragon 653 chipset, Octa-core (4x1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A72) processor, Adreno 510 graphics and 6GB RAM
  • Dual 13MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash
  • 8MP secondary camera with f/2.2 aperture and 1.4 µm pixel size
  • 64GB internal storage with no microSD expansion slot
  • Android Nougat 7.1.1, upgradeable to Android Oreo 8.0
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 4000 mAh battery
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • September 4th, 2017 release date
  • 14,999 Indian Rupee or ~$235 USD price tag

From the outset, you can see that the price is almost half of the Cool S1, but the specs are not that far off actually.

Cool Play 6 is said to be sporting a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS screen with a metal body and fingerprint sensor. This is the norm these days, and we are glad that the trend is set to continue.

Under the hood of the Cool Play 6 will be the mid-range Snapdragon 653 chipset, decently fast octa-core processor, good graphics and a whopping 6GB RAM. Seldom do we find that a smartphone in this price range is set to have 6GB RAM, which highlights its prowess among its peers.

Camera-wise, a dual 13MP primary camera is set to be the spotlight for Cool Play 6. With lots of features and functions, get ready for a great time shooting about as you will be able to capture some of the best-looking pictures with it. Go ahead to experiment with bokeh effect as well. Then there’s the 8MP selfie camera to complete the package.

Regarding storage, do take note that Cool Play 6 only has 64GB of internal storage available. With no expansion slot available, you will have to make do with cloud storage and USB on-the-go to add more space.

With 4000 mAh battery powering it up, you don’t have to worry about it running out of juice so soon. According to Coolpad, it should be able to deliver the performance of a 4500mAh battery due to optimisations being made to its software.

It should be able to last you for a full day in between charging.

Perhaps the most exciting news of all is that Cool Play 6 will be running on the latest Android Nougat 7.1.1 operating system once it is released next month. But that’s not it, the promise of getting an update to the next Android Oreo 8.0 update is exciting, and it even adds more value to the smartphone.

Coolpad Cool Play 6 is a real gem for those who are looking for a mid-range smartphone with great 5.5-inch Full HD IPS screen, great hardware with 6GB RAM, a fantastic dual 13MP primary camera setup, large 4000 mAh battery capacity, and the promise of getting the update to the upcoming Android Oreo 8.0. This should be able to prolong its precious life by a little while longer.

Coolpad Cool Play 6 is expected to be released on September 4th for approximately 14,999 Indian Rupee or ~$235 USD. It will be available in Gold and Black colour.
