From the outset, it seems like a very big deal about getting the M6 Note. Great 5.5-inch Full HD IPS screen, coupled with a beautiful metal body and fingerprint sensor. You get the premium looks, as per previous released in the Note series by Meizu.
Under the hood of the M6 Note is something of the mid-range segment. Previously it was thought that it would be powered by Mediatek, but it has been changed to be coming with the Snapdragon 625 chipset, a fast octa-core processor, good graphics and 4GB RAM. This combo should do well, and you won’t face any issues running most apps and games that are out there in the market.
Like most other manufacturers, it is about time that the M6 Note comes with a dual primary camera. Not surprising though, as the dual 12MP+5MP camera will finally be making its way. With a host of features, perhaps the best is in the form of the quad-LED (dual tone) flash. Can’t wait to see it in action. A 16MP selfie camera then makes the package complete.
With 64GB of internal storage, you should find ample space on the M6 Note. It can also easily add another 256GB of space via the microSD expansion slot.
Battery-wise, you will find that the 4000 mAh battery is more than capable of putting in a day or two of life in between charging.
Last but not least, the latest Android Nougat 7.1 will be available right out of the box which is great.
Moving on to Cool Play 6, this smartphone will be available exclusively on Amazon India on September 4th. For those of you who may not know it, Coolpad is a company from Shenzhen, China. Just like any other Chinese manufacturer, they are set to bring great value for money in the smartphone marketplace that will benefit us all.
With that in mind, here’s to Cool Play 6 with the following specs:
- 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels or ~401 ppi pixel density
- Metal body
- Fingerprint sensor
- Qualcomm MSM8976 Pro Snapdragon 653 chipset, Octa-core (4x1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A72) processor, Adreno 510 graphics and 6GB RAM
- Dual 13MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash
- 8MP secondary camera with f/2.2 aperture and 1.4 µm pixel size
- 64GB internal storage with no microSD expansion slot
- Android Nougat 7.1.1, upgradeable to Android Oreo 8.0
- Non-removable Li-Ion 4000 mAh battery
- Dual-sim and 4G LTE
- September 4th, 2017 release date

As you can see, there’s more to the Cool Play 6 than meets the eye. Yes, it will be sporting the similar 5.5-inch Full HD IPS screen, metal body and fingerprint sensor – which is what you expect a mid-range smartphone to be able to provide anyway.
The best of it is underneath as the Cool Play 6 is set to be powered by the Snapdragon 653 chipset, a fast octa-core processor, better graphics and a whopping 6GB RAM. We don’t typically find this compelling of a device within this price range, definitely not with 6GB RAM anyway. It should ensure smooth sailing when running most apps and games that are out there in the market.
Camera-wise, the dual 13MP primary camera will also be another spotlight that would entice users in getting it. Some details will delight you, as you can also play around with bokeh effect. An 8MP selfie camera makes the package complete.
Regarding storage, you may have to make do with just 64GB of internal storage. With no expansion slot to go around, best if you can tap on cloud storage or get yourself a USB on-the-go.
Similarly, Cool Play 6 is also having a 4000 mAh battery. According to Coolpad, it should be able to deliver the performance of a 4500mAh battery due to optimisations being made to its software. This makes for no issues in powering up the smartphone for at least a full day.
Like any other smartphone, Cool Play 6 is set to be running on the latest Android Nougat 7.1.1 operating system upon its release. But one clear advantage for sure, it will be getting an update to the upcoming Android Oreo 8.0 which is simply amazing.
Meizu M6 Note continues the long-standing tradition, but it faces some fierce competition this time around. But still, you will be getting a good 5.5-inch Full HD IPS screen, great mid-range performance, great dual 12MP+5MP camera, great 16MP selfie camera, an expansion slot and the latest Android Nougat operating system.
Meizu M6 Note was released last September 1st, and priced at 1,599 Chinese Yuan or ~$239. It is available in Black, Blue and Gold colours.
Coolpad Cool Play 6 is a real gem with great 5.5-inch Full HD IPS screen, great hardware with 6GB RAM, an amazing dual 13MP primary camera setup, large 4000 mAh battery capacity, and the promise of getting the update to the up-coming Android Oreo 8.0. Plus, it is also slightly cheaper by $20 USD which is a good deal.
Coolpad Cool Play 6 is expected to be released on September 4th for approximately 14,999 Indian Rupee or ~$235 USD. It will be available in Gold and Black colour.
