Last year’s Honor 6X was one of the most affordable smartphones equipped with a dual primary camera. Let’s do a quick throwback as per below:

  • 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels or ~401 ppi pixel density
  • Metal body
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • HiSilicon Kirin 655 chipset, Octa-core (4x2.1 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x1.7 GHz Cortex-A53) processor, Mali-T830MP2 graphics and 3GB/4GB RAM
  • Dual 12MP + 2MP primary camera, phase detection autofocus, LED flash
  • 8MP secondary camera
  • 32GB/64GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to maximum 256GB
  • Android Marshmallow 6.0
  • Non-removable 3340 mAh battery with Fast battery charging
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • October 2016 release date
  • $149 USD for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant, $189 USD for the 4GB RAM + 32GB storage and $249 USD for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage

As you can see, Honor 6X pulls some heavy punches while still maintaining a desirable price with a mid-range performance with the dual 12MP+2MP primary camera setup for just $149 USD.

One year on, and here are we are set to welcome its successor – Honor 7X.

Expected to be released this month, here are the lowdown of it:

  • 5.93-inch Full HD LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 2160 pixels, 18:9 ratio or ~407 ppi density
  • Fullview Display
  • Metal body
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset, Octa-core (4x2.36 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x1.7 GHz Cortex-A53) processor, Mali-T830 MP2 graphics and 4GB RAM
  • Dual 16MP+2MP primary camera with phase detection autofocus and LED flash
  • 8MP secondary camera
  • 64GB/128GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to maximum 256GB
  • Android Nougat 7.0
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 3240 mAh battery
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • October 2017 expected release date

The first thing that you will notice about Honor 7X will be its huge 5.93-inch Full HD LTPS IPS screen with Fullview Display. So much bigger than last year’s Honor 6X, although they still share similarities like the metal body and fingerprint sensor. With a size that big, get ready for two-handed operation and a pocket deep enough to store it.

Moving on to the performance side of things, Honor 7X will be positioned at the medium-upper range with the Kirin 659 chipset, a fast octa-core processor, good graphics and 4GB RAM.

Camera-wise, the dual 16MP+2MP primary camera gets a nice upgrade. There are some improvements in bits and pieces which is nice. Unfortunately, the selfie camera department remains unchanged with the Honor 7X still equipped with a similar 8MP selfie camera.

As for storage, there’s now an option to go for 128GB of internal storage. Even if you were to go with the 64GB variant and looking for more space, you could easily add up to a maximum of 256GB via the microSD expansion slot.

Another upgrade that it gets is in the software department with the Android Nougat 7.0 operating system. But there’s still no word as to whether it will get an update to the latest Android Oreo 8.0.

Finally, a 3240 mAh battery will be there supplying juice to the Honor 7X. It is a step down from last year’s model though, and with a screen this big and a more powerful hardware; it remains to be seen whether it can last a whole day without any hiccups.

Conclusion:

Although there’s still no official confirmation on the price, Huawei Honor 7X is set to be one of the most successful models for 2017. Embrace yourself for its large 5.93-inch Full HD LTPS IPS screen with Fullview Display, good performance and a great dual 16MP+2MP primary camera is its main attraction.

Huawei Honor 7X is said to be released very soon in October 2017 and will come in Black, Blue and Gold colours.
