Pixel 2 will be at the pinnacle of 5-inch smartphones with the top-of-the-line hardware, great protection, large storage and the latest Oreo 8.0 operating system. The only downside is that Google has yet to embark on the dual camera setup that other manufacturers have been dishing out.

With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at Pixel 2 XL which will be manufactured by LG:

  • 6-inch Quad HD P-OLED capacitive touchscreen with 1440 x 2880 pixels, 18:9 ratio or ~538 ppi density
  • Gorilla Glass 5 protection
  • IP67 certified - dust and water resistant up to 1 meter and 30 minutes
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset, Octa-core (4x2.35 GHz Kryo & 4x1.9 GHz Kryo) processor, Adreno 540 and 4GB RAM
  • 12.2MP primary camera with f/1.8, OIS, phase detection & laser autofocus and dual-LED flash
  • 8MP secondary camera with f/2.4 aperture, 1/3.2" sensor size and 1.4 µm pixel size
  • 64GB/128GB internal storage with no expansion slot
  • Android Oreo 8.0
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 3520 mAh battery with Fast battery charging
  • 4G LTE
  • October 2017 expected release date
  • $849 USD for 64GB storage & $949 USD for 128GB storage

The first thing that you will notice is how large the Pixel 2 XL is as it comes with a 6-inch screen with P-OLED technology and Quad HD resolution. Although the difference between P-OLED and AMOLED is minor, at this resolution level it still matters.

With Gorilla Glass 5 protection, you will have a peace of mind as it protects your precious investment.

In terms of hardware, you can be sure of only the best with the Snapdragon 835 chipset, fast Kryo octa-core processor, great graphics and 4GB RAM. There’s surely nothing that it can’t run fast enough, and still have the legs to go on further.

Camera-wise, the 12.2MP-8MP camera setup should be able to dish out good-looking photos out of it. But there’s still no dual camera setup on this one.

Moving on to the storage side of things, there are two options available with the 64GB and 128GB internal storage. The price difference is $100 and with no expansion slot. Yes, there’s unlimited amount of cloud storage according to Google; but it will only last until 2020 though.

As for the battery, a 3520 mAh battery should do just fine to power up the smartphone for a full day of charge.

Finally, the latest and greatest operating system in the form of Android Oreo 8.0 will be available right out of the box. As with any other Google devices, it will come without any unnecessary apps; or a plain vanilla setup.

Conclusion:

Google Pixel 2 XL will be at the top of things with its large 6-inch Quad HD P-OLED screen, great protection, great hardware, good battery and the latest operating system. The only worrying thing will be on its camera, or the lack of a dual camera to be exact.

Google Pixel 2 XL is expected to be released very soon for $849 USD for 64GB storage & $949 USD for 128GB storage. It will be available in Black and Black & White colours.
