Other than Apple having the most loyal of customers due to its brilliant branding, it is also Apple’s first venture for coming out with a smartphone this big. According to Apple’s website:

“Our vision has always been to create an iPhone that is entirely screen.

One so immersive the device itself disappears into the experience. And so intelligent it can respond to a tap and even a glance. With iPhone X, that vision is now a reality. Say hello to the future.”

That’s where things will change, starting with the iPhone X. The device is the display. An all‑new 5.8‑inch Super Retina screen fills your hand and is dazzling to the eyes. The display employs new techniques and technology to precisely follow the curves of the design, all the way to the elegantly rounded corners. It will also be the first OLED screen that comes with accurate, stunning colours, true blacks, high brightness and a 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio. For biometric purposes, your face is now your password. Face ID is a secure new way to unlock the smartphone and for all your other authentication purposes.

Performance-wise, nothing but the best from Apple with the brand-new A11 Bionic chipset. There will now be four efficiency cores that are up to 70 percent faster than A10 Fusion, and two performance cores that are up to 25 percent faster. It is also the most powerful and smartest chip ever in a smartphone, with a neural engine that is capable of up to 600 billion operations per second. Next, we have the Apple GPU (three-core graphics) graphics and 3GB RAM which makes for a very fast smartphone. It also lets you experience extraordinary augmented reality experiences in games and apps.

The other that Apple is good at is on the camera aspect of things, with the dual 12MP primary camera that looks very tantalizing indeed. The improved camera now features a larger and faster 12-megapixel sensor with a new color filter, deeper pixels as well asa new telephoto camera with OIS. Depth-sensing cameras and precise facial mapping create striking studio‑quality lighting effects, almost matching those of more expensive DSLRs. There’s also the wide-angle and telephoto cameras on iPhone X that enables optical zoom, as well as digital zoom of up to 10x for photos and 6x for videos.

iPhone X will also be featuring the latest iOS 11 which happens to be Apple’s most advanced operating system yet. There’s a host of new features and capabilities that fundamentally improves the way you do things with the smartphone. For example, there’s the Files app which brings all your files together.

Finally, you will benefit from your very own trusted virtual assistant, Siri. With sophisticated features like proactive suggestions, predictive typing, and everybody’s favorite intelligent assistant, iOS makes everything you do easier, quicker, and more fun. Talking to Siri is an easier, faster way to get things done. And iOS 11 makes Siri even more helpful. Thanks to advanced machine learning, you can simply speak naturally, and Siri will ultimately learn and understand things very fast.

Let’s move on to the Mate 10 Pro then. It is set to be the world’s first Kirin AI processor that also provides great camera experience in partnership with Leica.

And with the Pro name, we know that it will be featuring only the best aspects of a flagship device, right? Here you go then with its specs:

  • 6-inch Full HD AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 2160 pixels, 18:9 ratio or ~402 ppi density
  • Fullview Display
  • IP67 certification - dust and water resistant for up to 1 meter and 30 minutes
  • All-glass and metal body
  • Gorilla Glass protection
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Hisilicon Kirin 970 chipset, Octa-core (4x2.4 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4x1.8 GHz Cortex-A53) processor, Mali-G72 MP12 graphics and 4GB RAM
  • Dual 20MP+12MP primary camera with f/1.6 aperture, OIS, 2x lossless zoom, Leica optics, phase detection & laser autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash
  • 8MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture
  • 64GB internal storage + microSD slot up to maximum 256GB
  • Non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh battery with Fast battery charging (58% in 30 minutes)
  • Android Oreo 8.0
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • October 2017 release date
  • $799 Euro or ~$939 USD

One of the first few things that will impress you about the Mate 10 Pro, is its large 6-inch Full HD AMOLED screen with FullView Display, barely-there-bezel and HDR10 technology for intensely vivid and bright colours. It also features a strong and robust glass casing both front and back, for a uniquely elegant design. An innovative technique is used to heat the toughen rear glass to 700°C before shaping, to deliver the ultimate style. There’s also the IP67 certification which makes it dust and water resistant.

Now let’s talk about the AI processor and understand what it is all about. The Kirin 970 processor boosts speed, responsiveness and efficiency through its AI computing platform with a dedicated NPU (Neural-Network Processing Unit). Efficiency is boosted by up to 50 times while performance is up by 25 times. All thanks to the cutting-edge 10 nm technology, an 8-core CPU and 12-core GPU. Premium performance at lightning speeds while using much less power with the Mate 10 Pro.

Moving on to the camera side of things, Mate 10 Pro will be featuring a new Leica Dual Lens with f/1.6 aperture, that lets you take beautiful shallow depth of field pictures, crystal clear low-light photographs and blur-free shots of objects on the move. The 20MP monochrome sensor and 12MP RGB sensor with Optical Image Stabilization captures more light.

There’s also some AI technology to be found on the camera, where it will be used to power up the real-time scene and object recognition. With intelligent photographic algorithms, the Mate 10 Pro identifies, in real-time, different types of scene and object; where it will automatically adjust color, contrast, brightness, exposure and more; to produce vibrant, sharp, perfectly framed photographs.

Even the bokeh effect will receive a similar AI treatment, where it can ‘learn’ from our data cache of portrait images. It can then seamlessly evoke a professional bokeh effect by shifting the focal point onto the subject of the photograph, for picture-perfect portraits and selfies.

Battery-wise, the 4000 mAh battery is more than capable to power up the smartphone for a full day of use. There’s the smart battery management that learns from user behaviours to intelligently allocate resources where power-waste is minimized, and battery life is maximized. In just 30 minutes of charge, it will reach 58% of charge which is just amazing.

Finally, the latest Android Oreo 8.0 will be available right out of the box with the Mate 10 Pro. This ensures that you have the best software running alongside the best hardware available.
