  • Fullview Display
  • Fingerprint sensor

  • Android Nougat 7.1
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE

With a large 6-inch Full HD IPS screen, Oppo F5 have Fullview Display and a fingerprint sensor. Oppo does not want to get left behind, as others are coming out with their very own Fullview version.

Regarding performance, there’s no denying that Oppo F5 is in the medium-high range with the Helio P23 chipset, fast octa-core processor, great graphics and a fantastic 6GB RAM.

As for the camera, Oppo F5 is equipped with a tremendous 16MP-20MP camera combination that is just amazing.

According to Oppo, “For the first time, the artificial intelligence technology has been integrated into selfies (front camera). The Selfie Expert will feature the ground-breaking AI Beauty technology - which uses artificial intelligence from a massive global photo database, to beautify a selfie shot".

Equipped with the selfie camera, Oppo also wants you to use facial recognition to unlock the F5. Facial recognition is nothing new, as we've seen Samsung with its Iris scanner and Apple’s new Face ID that can also be used for unlocking purposes. The facial unlock feature can be done in just 0.4 seconds. Face Unlock is also considered to be convenient and safe, although you can always select other unlocking methods such as fingerprint, password and pattern unlock.

With the F5 having 64GB of internal storage, that’s more than enough for you to install all your favourite apps and games. But if you intend to snap photos after photos of high resolution, then you can easily add more space – up to 256GB to be exact.

Battery-wise, the F5 has the right amount of battery capacity to last it for a full day – with 3200 mAh battery supplying the necessary juice to it.

Now that is done, let’s turn our attention to the upcoming Nova 3 that is slated for a December 2017 release.

  • 5.93-inch Full HD LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 2160 pixels, 18:9 ratio or ~407 ppi density
  • Fullview Display
  • Metal body
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • HiSilicon Kirin 670 chipset, Octa-core (4x2.2 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4x1.8 GHz Cortex-A53) processor, Mali-G72 MP4 graphics and 4GB RAM
  • Dual 20MP + 16MP primary camera with phase detection autofocus and LED flash
  • Dual 20MP + 2MP secondary camera
  • 64GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to 256GB maximum
  • Non-removable Li-Po 3340 mAh battery with Fast battery charging
  • Android Nougat 7.1
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • December 2017 expected release date
  • 350 Euro or ~$409 USD estimated price tag

Starting with the obvious, Nova 3 will be sporting a slightly smaller 5.93-inch Full HD LTPS IPS screen; although there’s still the Fullview display and fingerprint sensor in between. It does have an added touch of a metal body to bring out the best in the look and feel department.

Regarding performance, Nova 3 should do well in the medium-high department with the Kirin 670 chipset, fast octa-core processor, good graphics and 4GB RAM. There’s plenty of power where it will be coming from.

Perhaps the highlight of the show with regards to the Nova 3, is on its camera aspect – to be exact its four cameras. Firstly, you will be spellbound with the amazing dual 20MP+16MP primary, as you get to benefit from the bokeh effect very nicely. Meanwhile, for its dual 20MP+2MP selfie camera, you will have a blast taking lots of selfies; that’s for sure.

It does have a slight advantage in the battery department, with the 3340 mAh battery expected to be accompanying it.

Conclusion:

Oppo F5 is no doubt the selfie expert, with a great selfie camera combining well with the software behind it. The 6-inch Full HD IPS screen combines well with the great hardware and great 16MP-20MP camera setup that it possesses. It is also slightly cheaper by $24 USD in this case.

Oppo F5 is currently available for 24,990 Indian Rupee or ~$385 USD. It comes in Gold and Rose Gold colour.

Meanwhile, for Nova 3, there’s no doubt that it wins this round by its amazing four cameras found on this phablet. Not to mention the metal body for a great look and feel experience, plus a slightly larger battery capacity to boot.

Huawei Nova 3 is said to be released in December, just in time for the upcoming year-end holiday season. It is said to be priced at 350 Euro or ~$409 USD and will be available in various colours.
