ZTE Blade V9: a 5.7-inch mid-range smartphone with dual 16MP+5MP selfie camera and Oreo 8.0

It has been almost a year since its predecessor, and the time is ripe for ZTE Blade V9 to hit the streets.

Even back then, the Blade V8 managed to hold on its own as you can see from the below specs:

  • 5.2-inch Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels or ~424 ppi pixel density
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Qualcomm MSM8940 Snapdragon 435 chipset, Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, Adreno 505 and 2GB/3GB RAM
  • Dual 13MP + 2MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • 13MP secondary camera
  • 16GB/32GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to 256GB maximum
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 2730 mAh battery
  • Android Nougat 7.0
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • February 2017 release date
  • $229 USD price tag

The Blade V8 was a cheaper alternative that provides an affordable dual primary camera setup, decent hardware and the latest software to boot (at that time).

With that in mind, here’s what we learned about the Blade V9 after it was momentarily leaked over the internet:

  • 5.7-inch Full HD S-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 2160 pixels, 18:9 ratio or ~424 ppi density
  • Front/back glass, aluminium frame
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset, Octa-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, Adreno 506 graphics and 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM
  • Dual 16MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and 1.12 µm + 5MP with phase detection autofocus and dual-LED dual-tone flash
  • 13MP secondary camera
  • 16GB/32GB/64GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to 256GB maximum
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 3200 mAh battery
  • Android Oreo 8.0
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • Q4 2018 expected release date

Starting with the body aspect of the Blade V9, it got a huge upgrade in size to 5.7-inch Full HD, and an improvement on the technology with S-IPS found on the screen. It will also be a feast for the eyes with its exquisite metal body and a real comfortable feel to it.

Performance-wise, here’s where you can find it somewhere in the mid-range of things.

There’s going to be a Snapdragon 450 chipset paired with a fast octa-core processor, good graphics and an option of memory size of 2GB, 3GB and 4GB.

The best part of all will be on its dual 16MP+5MP primary camera setup that is packed with a lot of features and functions. You know you are going to have a blast having a shot with its camera and bokeh effect. The 13MP selfie camera then makes the package complete.

In terms of storage, there’s a wide range of options available with either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB. Any way you choose to go with, you can easily add an additional 256GB via the available microSD expansion slot.

Moving on to the storage side of things, a cool 3200 mAh battery capacity is expected to be found on it. This should be able to power up the smartphone for a full day of charge.

Finally, the latest Android Oreo 8.0 will be there upon its release. No messy OTA updates, and you are all set from the get go.

Conclusion:

ZTE Blade V9 is still a few months to go, but the way it is being set up; we undoubtedly have a winner in our midst. The size is much larger now at 5.7-inch, the hardware gets an upgrade, the dual-primary camera has been improved, a larger battery capacity and the latest Oreo 8.0 operating system will be there.

ZTE Blade V9 is expected to be released in Q4 2018 although there’s no word on the price just yet. So stay tuned with us for more updates as we get closer to the release date.
