With a price tag of USD 199, let’s find out whether Blu Vivo XL3 Plus hits the right notes.

For those who may not have heard about the company called Blu, well they are actually from Miami, Florida in the United States.

Considered to be an underdog in this part of the world, it has been six months since we covered their release – called Vivo 8:

  • 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels or ~401 ppi pixel density
  • Metal body with curved glass
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Gorilla Glass 3 protection
  • Mediatek MT6755 Helio P10 chipset, Octa-core (4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x1.0 GHz Cortex-A53) processor, Mali-T860 graphics and 4GB RAM
  • 13MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and LED flash
  • 16MP secondary camera with LED flash

  • Android Nougat 7.0
  • Dual sim and 4G LTE
  • August 2017 release date
  • USD 249 price tag

Blu Vivo 8 have all the characteristics of a solid mid-range smartphone with its good 5.5-inch Full HD IPS screen, great metal body, good mid-range hardware, great 16MP selfie camera, great 64GB internal storage, large 4010 mAh battery, the latest Nougat 7.0 operating system and an affordable pricing that makes for an irresistible combination.

With that in mind, let’s see where Vivo XL3 Plus stands:

  • 6-inch HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 720 x 1440 pixels, 18:9 ratio or ~268 ppi density
  • Fullview Display
  • Metal body with curved glass
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Qualcomm MSM8917 Snapdragon 425 chipset, Quad-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, Adreno 308 graphics and 3GB RAM
  • 13MP primary camera with phase detection autofocus and LED flash
  • 16MP secondary camera with LED flash
  • 32GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to 64GB maximum
  • Non-removable Li-Po 3000 mAh battery
  • Android Nougat 7.1.2
  • Dual sim and 4G LTE
  • April 2018 release date
  • USD 199 price tag

To kick things off, Vivo XL3 Plus sports a large 6-inch IPS screen although it comes with just High Definition resolution. Bet the Fullview Display technology helps a little bit in seeing more things on-screen.

It does have a killer look that is precisely crafted with aluminium metal form fitted with a gorgeous curved glass display. It does fit comfortably in the palm of your hand and leaving more for your viewing pleasure. The battery cover at the back is designed with aluminium for structural integrity that also increases its aesthetic value.

Regarding performance, do expect the Vivo XL3 Plus to deliver decent performance coming out from its Snapdragon 425 chipset paired with a suitable quad-core processor, decent graphics and 3GB RAM. Have sufficient in the tank to run most basic apps and some light gaming.

Moving on to the camera side of things, the 13MP-16MP lets you take great-looking photos with the smartphone. And since both cameras are equipped with LED flash, your photos will look bright even under low light conditions. The 16MP selfie camera has the necessary tools for the perfect self-portrait, combined with the f/2.0 aperture and 5P lens; all your images will be captured in any light environment offering crystal clear portraits.

By making full use of the Vivo XL3 Plus camera capabilities, you will then have to be concerned about storage capacity. By default, there’s only 32GB of internal storage found on the smartphone. With the available expansion slot, you can easily add up to a maximum of 64GB.

Having a 3000 mAh battery to power up the Vivo XL3 Plus, there won’t be any issues for it to last a full day in between charging. Once fully charged, it can last up to 30 hours of talk time and seven days of standby time.

One thing to take note though is the fact that it is running on the dated Android Nougat 7.1.2 operating system. With no signs of it getting an update to Oreo 8.0, you might find yourself stuck here.

Conclusion:

Blu Vivo XL3 Plus is a large 6-inch smartphone with Fullview display but is limited by the High Definition resolution. It sure is beautiful though, and it doesn’t get better with the metal body and curved glass giving it a great look and feel department. The performance is OK, and you will capture good memories with its 13MP-16MP camera.

Blu Vivo XL3 Plus had just been released for approximately USD 199 and is available in only Black colour.
