If taking photos with your camera is your thing, then you shouldn’t miss out on what Oppo R17 has to offer.

It was just a couple of months ago that its predecessor made its debut. Let’s do a quick throwback at the R15 as per below:

Even back then, the R15 has all the hallmarks of success with its huge 6.28-inch Full HD AMOLED screen, huge 128GB storage, huge on its dual primary camera, huge on the latest hardware, huge on the latest software and everything else. As long as you have a huge hand, then you are all set to tame it.

Now then, here are we today with the R17 that is set to be launched on August 30th with a release date not that very far after that.

Here we go then with this monster of a smartphone:

  • 6.4-inch Full HD AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 2280 pixels, 19:9 ratio or ~394 ppi density
  • Fullview display
  • Metal body
  • Gorilla Glass 6 protection
  • Fingerprint sensor (under display)
  • Qualcomm SDM710 Snapdragon 670 chipset, Octa-core (2x2.0 GHz 360 Gold & 6x1.7 GHz Kryo 360 Silver) processor, Adreno 615 graphics and 8GB RAM
  • Dual 16MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture, 25mm, 1/2.6", 1.22µm and PDAF + 20MP with f/1.7 aperture, 25mm, 1/2.8", 1µm, dual-LED flash, HDR and panorama
  • 25MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture and HDR
  • 128 internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to 256GB maximum
  • Android Oreo 8.1
  • Non-removable Li-Po 3450 mAh battery with Fast battery charging
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • Expected September 2018 release date
  • $3,499 Chinese Yuan or ~$510 USD

Almost everything about the R17 is a step up, starting with the huge 6.4-inch Full HD AMOLED screen that it will be sporting. Larger screen size and higher resolution being packed onto the screen, means you get more viewing pleasure out of it. And just like what Vivo has achieved previously, Oppo will also be implementing the fingerprint sensor under the display of the smartphone. You now get to unlock the smartphone by placing your finger on the screen, rather than the traditional back.

In terms of performance, the R17 should do very well with the latest mid-range Snapdragon 670 chipset with a blazingly fast Kryo octa-core processor, good graphics and a whopping 8GB RAM. It should be able to handle most of the apps and games that are out there in the market with ease.

One of the highlights of the show for the R17, is with its dual 16MP+20MP primary camera setup. It is so packed with all the bells and whistles, that will help you take great-looking photos with this camera smartphone. Not only that, the 25MP selfie camera will let you take amazing selfies with it as well.

By taking lots of high-res photos with it, then you must be worried about the storage space on the R17. Thankfully, there’s only one variant that is available which has 128GB of internal storage. Even then, you can add up to an additional 256GB via the microSD expansion slot.

With the latest Android Oreo 8.1 operating system, you get the best software to support it.

If there’s one issue that you might find yourself in, is with its smallish 3450 mAh battery capacity. We might not know the full extent of it, but if Oppo manages to optimize and squeeze the battery life – then it should not have any problem to power up the smartphone for at least a full days of use.

Conclusion:

Oppo R17 comes just a few months into the life of its predecessor, and all signs are pointing at how great it would be when it comes out in just a few weeks’ time. Huge 6.4-inch screen, innovative fingerprint sensor under the display, great medium-high performance, amazing dual 16MP+20MP primary camera, amazing 25MP selfie camera, huge 128GB of internal storage and a competitive price tag as well.

Oppo R17 is expected to be launched on August 30th and slated for release soon after that. It will be available for $3,499 Chinese Yuan or ~$510 USD and comes in either Stream Blue or Neon Purple color.
