image

Expected to be released in just a couple of weeks’ time, Motorola P30 is your solution for a cheaper iPhone X copy in the sub-$300 price range.

Now, why would Motorola literally copy from the iPhone X? That could be because the latter costs ~$1,000 USD that is well out of reach of the ordinary people.

But before we begin, let’s look at the latest release by the Chinese manufacturer – the Moto Z3 Play:

  • 6.01-inch Full HD Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 2160 pixels, 18:9 ratio (~402 ppi density)
  • Fullview Display
  • Front/rear glass (Gorilla Glass 3), aluminum frame (6000 series)
  • Splash and dust resistant
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Qualcomm SDM636 Snapdragon 636 chipset, Octa-core 1.8 GHz Kryo 260 processor, Adreno 509 graphics and 4GB RAM
  • Dual 12MP (f/1.7 aperture, 1.4µm, dual pixel PDAF) + 5MP primary camera (no AF, depth sensor) and dual-LED dual-tone flash
  • 8MP secondary camera with (f/2.0 aperture, 1.12µm) and 1080p

  • Android Oreo 8.1
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE

Moto Z3 Play features a large 6.01-inch screen, super slim body, mid-range hardware, dual 12MP+5MP primary camera, an 8MP selfie camera and the latest Android Oreo 8.1 operating system. But it does feel a little bit pricey for the kind of specs that it dishes out though.

Here’s to the Motorola P30 and its specs as per below:

  • 6.2-inch Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 2246 pixels, 18.7:9 ratio or ~402 ppi density
  • Fullview display
  • Gorilla Glass protection
  • Splash resistant
  • Fingerprint sensor

  • 12MP secondary camera with 1.25µm, f/1.9 aperture and LED flash
  • 64GB/128GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to maximum 256GB
  • Dolby sound
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery with Fast battery charging
  • Android Oreo 8.1
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • September 2018 expected release date
  • $299 USD for 64GB internal storage and $359 USD for 128gb internal storage expected price tag

Just by glancing through the Motorola P30’s specs, you can immediately notice a few upgrades here and there – with the attractive price tag being one of it.

For starters, the Motorola P30 will be featuring a slightly larger 6.2-inch Full HD IPS screen with Fullview display. And the splash resistant feature means that you don’t have to worry about taking it out with you when it rains.

Performance-wise, the Snapdragon 636 chipset paired with a fast 1.8 GHz Kryo processor and Adreno 509 graphics makes a return; but this with a whopping 6GB RAM. It will offer a snappier performance and less lag this time around.

Moving on to the camera side of things, the dual 16MP+5MP is an upgrade on its own and loaded with the features and functions that will excite you. The 12MP selfie camera is also an upgrade, as you get to enjoy great looking selfies with the Motorola P30.

There’s now the 128GB internal storage variant should you want it. Even then, there’s still the option to add more space via the microSD expansion slot.

One final thing to add, the Motorola P30 will be equipped with Dolby sound system to elevate your auditory senses to an entirely new level.

Conclusion:

Motorola P30 might be a blatant copy of the iPhone X, but there’s a lot more to it than meets the eye. It seems to be offering better specs and a cheaper price tag, as compared to its predecessor.

Motorola P30 is expected to be released in September 2018 for an estimated price tag of $299 USD for the 64GB internal storage variant and $359 USD for 128gb internal storage variant. It is said to be available in 3 different colors: White, Black and Aurora.
