Take it from us, Meizu is at it again with the latest release called Meizu X8. Where can you get something so valuable at this kind of price tag?

It wasn’t that long ago that Meizu 15 becomes their latest flagship release, as you can see from the below:

  • 5.46-inch Full HD Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels, 16:9 ratio or ~403 ppi density
  • Metal body
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Qualcomm SDM660 Snapdragon 660 chipset, Octa-core (4x2.2 GHz Kryo 260 & 4x1.8 GHz Kryo 260) processor, Adreno 512 graphics and 4GB RAM
  • Dual 12MP (f/1.8, aperture 1/2.3", 1.55 µm) + 20MP primary camera (1/2.8", 1.0 µm) with 4-axis OIS, 2x optical zoom, dual pixel phase and laser detection autofocus, six-LED dual-tone flash
  • 20MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture
  • 64GB/128GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to maximum 256GB
  • Android 7.1.2 Nougat
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery with Fast battery charging (54% in just 30 minutes)
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • April 2018 release date
  • $2,499 Chinese Yuan or ~$390 USD price tag

Even back then, everything about the Meizu 15 is golden, as the amount of value that it dishes out is just too great. A 5.46-inch Full HD Super AMOLED screen, good mid-range performance with the Snapdragon 660 chipset and 4GB RAM, superb 12MP+20MP primary camera with lots of excellent features and functions, and a great 20MP selfie camera to cement its position as a great camera smartphone.

Where did it go from there? Out comes Meizu X8 as per below specs:

  • 6.2-inch Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 2220 pixels, 18.5:9 ratio or ~398 ppi density)
  • Metal body
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Qualcomm SDM710 Snapdragon 710 chipset, Octa-core (2x2.2 GHz 360 Gold & 6x1.7 GHz Kryo 360 Silver) processor, Adreno 616 and 4GB/6GB RAM
  • Dual 12MP f/1.9 aperture, 1/2.55", 1.4µm and Dual Pixel PDAF + 5MP primary camera with Dual-LED dual-tone flash and panorama
  • 5MP secondary camera
  • 64GB/128GB internal storage with no microSD expansion slot
  • Android 8.0 Oreo
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 3210 mAh battery
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • September 2018 release date
  • $1,598 Chinese Yuan or ~$230 USD for 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, $1,798 Chinese Yuan or ~$260 USD for 6GB RAM + 64GB storage and $1,998 Chinese Yuan or ~$290 USD for 6GB RAM + 128GB storage

With a price tag that is more than half of what Meizu 15 is at, Meizu X8 is indeed something special in its own way. Starting with a larger 6.2-inch Full HD IPS LCD screen, there’s also the notch that is made popular by Apple.

You either love it or hate it, but it is here.

Performance-wise, the Meizu X8 comes equipped with the latest mid-range Snapdragon 710 chipset paired with a great Kryo octa-core processor, good graphics and an option to go for either 4GB or 6GB RAM. Either way, it will blaze through anything that you can throw at it.

Moving on to the camera side of things, the dual 12MP+5MP primary camera might not be high-end, but still packs quite a punch. But if you love taking selfies, the 5MP selfie camera might be a bit of a letdown.

In terms of storage, since there’s no expansion slot available – let your budget decide on this one. Even if you opt for 64GB of storage, there’s still the option to turn to cloud storage and USB on-the-go for more space.

With the Meizu X8, there’s no issue of it not getting an update. That’s because it is already running on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo right out of the box which is great news. But whether it will get an update to the upcoming Android P is another matter.

A 3210 mAh rated battery is just what you need to power up the smartphone for a full day of charge. That’s another plus point for most users.

Conclusion:

Well, well, well. Meizu X8 is the alternative for those looking for a great value for money smartphone. The pull factor of a large 6.2-inch Full HD IPS screen, the latest Snapdragon 710 chipset, good dual 12MP+5MP primary camera and an affordable price tag is just great.

Meizu X8 had just been released for approximately $1,598 Chinese Yuan or ~$230 USD for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant, $1,798 Chinese Yuan or ~$260 USD for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant and $1,998 Chinese Yuan or ~$290 USD for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. Black, Blue and White are the colors that you can choose from.
