With a price tag of just $99 Pound Sterling or ~$129 USD, Vodafone Smart X9 aims to deliver a smartphone that is available to the general public.

It was just seven months ago, that another affordable smartphone by Vodafone hits the scene; and here’s to the Smart N9:

  • 5.5-inch HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 720 x 1440 pixels, 18:9 ratio or ~293 ppi density
  • Fullview display
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Mediatek MT6739WA chipset, Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, Mali-T720MP2 graphics and 2GB RAM
  • 13MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • 8MP secondary camera with LED flash
  • 16GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to 32GB maximum
  • Android Oreo 8.1
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 2900 mAh battery
  • Single SIM and 4G LTE
  • June 2018 release date
  • $109 British Pounds or ~ USD 140 price tag

The Smart N9 tries hard to deliver with its large 5.5-inch screen with Fullview display, entry-level hardware and 13MP-8MP camera setup.

Which then leaves us with the Smart X9 to take it higher. Let’s scrutinise it further as per below specs:

  • 5.7-inch Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 2160 pixels, 18:9 ratio or ~427 ppi density
  • Fullview display
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Asahi Dragontrail Glass
  • Qualcomm SDM450 Snapdragon 450 (14 nm) chipset, Octa-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, Adreno 506 graphics and 3GB RAM
  • Dual primary camera with 16MP with Autofocus + 5MP with depth sensor, LED flash, HDR and panorama
  • 8MP secondary camera
  • 32GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to 256GB maximum
  • Android Oreo 8.1
  • Non-removable Li-Ion 3100 mAh battery
  • Single SIM and 4G LTE
  • December 2018 release date
  • $99 British Pound or ~ USD 129 price tag

Fast forward to more than half a year ago, the Smart X9 is now very much improved and in a very good state. Starting with a larger 5.7-inch IPS screen size, it now sports a Full HD resolution as well.

Now that is a huge step forward. Even then, there’s additional protection in the form of Asahi Dragontrail glass. Pretty handy if you have clumsy hands, or in the event of a mishap.

Under the hood of the Smart X9 is very much basic stuff though. It is fitted with the Snapdragon 450 chipset paired with an Octa-core processor, decent graphics and 3GB RAM. Good enough for all your daily needs though.

Regarding camera, a good dual 16MP+5MP primary camera is available. This lets you take pretty decent pictures with the Smart X9. Then there’s the 8MP selfie camera that makes the package complete.

Storage-wise, an excellent 32GB internal storage can be found on this smartphone. Should you need more space, just pop in a microSD card and you are all set to a maximum of 256GB of additional space.

Finally, the 3100 mAh battery found on the Smart X9 is more than capable of powering up the device for a full day of charge.

Conclusion:

Vodafone Smart X9 is a great choice if you are looking for a budget smartphone. Large 5.7-inch Full HD IPS screen, good protection with Asahi Dragontrail glass, decent hardware and a good dual 16MP+5MP primary camera.

Vodafone Smart X9 is currently available for approximately $99 British Pound or ~ USD 129 and is available in only Black colour.
