One year on, and Sony definitely knows how to make a comeback from such a long hiatus. The Xperia 1 now comes with a larger 6.5-inch Quad HD+ OLED screen with the world’s 21:9 CinemaWide 6.5” 4K HDR OLED display. Experience a cinematic aspect ratio made possible by the collaboration with engineers from “CineAlta” branded digital cinema camera team means it can reproduce colours as directors intended.

The OLED display brings real black, incredible contrast, and lifelike colour.

Protection-wise, the IP65/IP68 makes the Xperia 1 dust and water proof; while the Gorilla Glass 6 protects the smartphone from any mishaps or carelessness that might happen. You will get a total peace of mind having it, that’s for sure. Not only that, with a sleek metal frame and durable Gorilla Glass 6 front and back; it looks as good as it feels.

Under the hood of the Xperia 1 is the flagship performance that you can expect for the year 2019. The Snapdragon 855 chipset paired with a very fast Kryo octa-core processor, great graphics and 6GB RAM makes for a speedy performance. No problem to run any apps and games that you can find out there.

Perhaps the best part about the Xperia 1 is on its triple primary camera setup, the 12MP+12MP+12MP camera to be exact. Get outstanding image quality in every photo for any situation and light conditions: 16mm for wide landscapes, a versatile 26mm lens and a 52mm for 2x optical zoom. Introducing the world’s first Eye AF in a smartphone and up to 10fps AF/AE tracking technology. It has RAW noise reduction for clear images in low light and precision focus for striking portraits. Record movies with the same parameters and color settings as the professionals with the function co-developed with the expertise from Sony's cinema camera engineers.

As for the storage, either you go for 64GB or 128GB of internal storage; you can easily add up to a maximum of 1TB via the microSD expansion slot.

Now you can enjoy Dolby Atmos sound system through your phone, as the Xperia 1 creates an amazing audio experience with multi-dimensional sound that flows above and around you – tuned in collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment.

With a high 3330mAh capacity, the Xperia 1’s battery supplies the necessary juice to power up your day. Plus, Smart Stamina predicts how long your power will last and adapts your energy usage to keep you going for longer. When the time comes to plug it in, it only takes 30 minutes to charge it up to 50%.

Conclusion:

Sony Xperia 1 ups the ante in the flagship space by offering great performance, great display, great camera, great video-recording, great sound system and many more. The only question is whether you can afford such greatness.

Sony Xperia 1 had just been released for ~$900 USD price tag. 4 great colors for you to choose from, namely Black, Gray, Purple and White.
