The Epson Expression Photo XP-950 has been recognised as the best photo printer at the international Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) Awards 2014, regarded as the world's most influential photo and imaging product awards.
TIPA membership comprises 28 leading photo and imaging magazines from 15 countries on five continents and the organisation also has a cooperative partnership with the Camera Journal Press Club that represents 11 top photography magazines in Japan.
Bruce Bealby, general manager sales and marketing for the retail division at Epson Australia, said: “TIPA members are all experts in the field and therefore select products according to the strictest standards.”
According to the TIPA web site "TIPA Awards are recognised as the most coveted photo and imaging awards worldwide. When TIPA member magazines began the TIPA Awards, they decided that they wanted an award the industry could be very proud of. Only products that the General Assembly think deserve our recognition are taken into consideration for voting.
"Every year, TIPA editors vote for the best photo and imaging products introduced to the market during the previous 12 months. TIPA editors take into account innovation, the use of leading-edge technology, design and ergonomics, ease-of-use, as well as price/performance ratio. Since TIPA member magazines range in content and goals, the award voting process benefits from a wide range of expertise. As a result, the TIPA Awards are bestowed through a majority of votes by very experienced editors."
The Epson EH-TW7200 also won the award for Best Photo Projector, making Epson the winner of 34 TIPA awards for technologies and imaging products, including inkjet printers, inks, scanners and projectors since 1997.
According to the award citation “The Epson Expression Photo XP-950 takes the 'all-in-one' concept (a multi-function printer that, in the XP-950, includes text and photo printing, scanning and copying) to a new level with 11x17 inch capability using Claria Photo HD six-colour inks. Delivering 4 x 6 inch photos in less than 10 seconds, the unit also allows for wireless printing from phone, tablet or computer plus mobile solutions using the Epson Connect collection of apps. Scans up to 4800 dpi are available, as well as direct CD/DVD printing and a dedicated photo paper tray. A dedicated rear tray allows for printing on heavier card stock and a 3.5-inch LCD with 'gesture' navigation helps the user make use of all functions and features quickly and easily.”
